Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 (NIV)

Moscow and Heading Home

We arrived in Moscow on Sunday.  At 6:00 a.m. Monday morning the doctor showed up to do a medical exam on Alex.  This exam is necessary for immigration.  At 9:00 a.m. our Moscow facilitator showed up to pick up all of our paperwork for immigration, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  That afternoon, she brought back a piece of paper inviting us for his immigration interview at the US Embassy the next day.

On Tuesday, we walked the half a block to the US Embassy for his appointment.  It was nice to meet about 6 other families there for the same purpose.  Everything went smoothly and we were given his passport with visa and his supporting documents to immigrate to the US.

On Wednesday, our facilitator picked up our paperwork in order to get Alex registered with the Russian consulate.  We had the rest of the day free, so we decided to take in the Moscow Zoo.  It was an interesting time, though a little cold, but we had fun.  Here are a few pics.

On Thursday we went sightseeing with a friend, Vladmir.

 Lenin's Mausoleum
 Kazan Cathedral

 Iberian Gate and Chapel

 Mariinsky Theatre

By Friday, we are all more than ready to go home.  We were packed up that morning waiting for our driver to take us to the airport.
Aiden and Analese excited to be going home.

Our flight from Moscow to Washington DC was supposed to be eleven hours.  Somehow that day, our crew turned it into a 10 hour flight.  We arrived a full hour early.  We were thankful.  Alex did great on the flight.  Even those around us commented on how good he was.  It was fun to visit with another adoptive family on the flight.
