Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 (NIV)

Angel Tree

Reece's Rainbow has all of the precious children with Down syndrome under the age of five listed on their Angel Tree.  For a donation of $35, you can receive an ornament with a picture of a special child (any one you choose) on it.  $5 of your donation goes to help pay for the ornament and shipping it to you, the other $30 goes into that special child's grant fund.

The purpose of the child's grant fund is to facilitate that child being adopted.  The number one barrier to many families adopting these children is the huge financial cost of the adoption itself.  An international adoption costs anywhere from $15,000 - $40,000.  Most families that I know do not have that kind of cash laying around, yet many would be willing to raise another child.  Reece's Rainbow is a ministry that is set up to help raise the finances for these children to be adopted.  Alex's grant was just over $16,000 and though that was less than half of what his actual adoption cost, it really did take some of the financial burden off of us.

Please prayerfully consider purchasing a beautiful ornament for your tree.  We purchased six ornaments last Christmas, one for each of my children.  Of the six children those ornament represent, two children are home with families now, two are in the process of being adopted, but sadly, two are still available for adoption.  These two hold a special place in my heart and we pray that they will NOT be on the Angel Tree again next year.  Please consider donating to help these children find a family.

  1. Great idea to raise funds. You are right, many families are willing to adopt (I for one) but just can't afford the cost.

  2. I wish I had the money to adopt one of these. Its my hearts passion to adopt a child with down syndrome. But a single mom of 3 kids, its just not easy. maybe one day.

But for now I will pray.
