Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 (NIV)

Step by Step

This last week we have progressed a few more steps in our adoption.  Our Registration Dossier has arrived in Sam's country.  It will be translated and then hopefully be submitted on April 26th to the committee which will decide if we can adopt.  In 3-4 weeks after that, we should receive our first travel date.  Lately, those that have received their date have traveled 10-14 days later.  It looks like it will be June when we travel and we will be ready.  On this first trip, we will get our official referral to adopt Sam, meet him, and accept his referral.  Then we come home and do something we are learning to get good at....WAIT.  Wait for our day in court that will allow us to complete the adoption.  We have been told this could be 2-4 months and most likely will be closer to the 4 month mark.

On Friday, we met our college student daughters at the city of our state capitol to have our USCIS fingerprints done.  This is part of our application with the US government that allows Sam to immigrate after his adoption.  Now we wait to receive approval in the form of a I-171H or in adoption circles know as the "golden ticket".

We continue to be amazed at this path our Lord has put us upon.  We truly appreciate the prayer support we are getting.  We are blessed with so many wonderful friends and family.

  1. Just checking to see your progress on the adoption. I am a reader of Mckmama and I am so happy that your family decided to be Sam's forever family. My heart aches for all the children who need homes. Thank you so much for what you are doing for Sam. I will keep you all in my prayers. I can't wait to see the post when Sam comes home!!
